Safety and Risk Awareness

Lesson Information 

Above all else, instruction should be fun. The Ski and Snowboard instructors are trained and certified by the Canadian Ski Instructors (CSIA) and Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI). We will provide a safe learning environment while offering our students the opportunity to improve sport specific skills through a taylored progression. Please remember to factor in enough time to get through registration and rentals when considering lessons. This process usually takes around 30-45 minutes but could take longer if busy.

Lesson Levels

Learn to Turn  - First time on skis or a snowboard.

Level 1 -  Has started turning on beginner terrain.

Level 2 - Can link turns and manage speed on beginner to intermediate terrain.

Level 3 - Can link turns on intermediate to advanced terrain managing speed and direction.

There are no group lessons avaialble for the 2022 season. Discounted private lessons only. Normally $80 per hour now $60.If you require rentals with your lesson then a 25% discount will automatically be applied to the lesson / rental package when booked and paid for at the snow school window in the main lodge.

 Please note that Snowboard lessons for little ones may be limited to size and availability of equipment which cannot be guaranteed (smallest boots size 1 junior / Board 90cm)


 Ski / Snowboard Instructor Certifications

CSIA (Canadian Ski Instructor Alliance - Level 1)

The 3 Day Level One Certification is The Level 1 ski instructor certification is for any skier over the age of 15 that is a competent parallel skier. The Level 1 candidate can expect to be exposed to a variety of terrain, snow conditions and terrain features.  The Level 1 course is an introduction to ski teaching, CSIA technique and methodology and the role of ski teaching within the ski industry. It combines the basics of practical ski teaching methods, technical understanding and development of guest service skills, addressing children’s skiing. Candidates will receive coaching on their skiing, teaching and people skills with the goal of reaching the Level 1 standard. They will also receive suggestions and strategies for long-term development. The successful candidate is certified to teach skiers up to intermediate parallel skill level. CASI (Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors - Level 1

The CASI Level 1 Snowboard Instructor certification course is open to strong intermediate snowboarders, aged 15 years and older. Candidates on the Level 1 Course will spend time exploring snowboarding technique and teaching methods across a variety of venues, both on-snow (up to and including intermediate terrain) and during indoor presentations.

The CASI Level 1 course is an introductory course, designed to give successful candidates the skills necessary to begin their role as a new instructor in the industry. Beginner teaching methods, understanding of basic snowboard technique, as well as lesson planning and effective communication skills will be addressed.Candidates will receive coaching on their snowboarding, as well as feedback on their teaching skills, with the goal of reaching the Level 1 standard in both of these areas. They will also receive suggestions and strategies for long-term development. The successful candidate is certified to teach beginner snowboarders up to the Novice Turn level.The Level 1 certification is a pre-requisite for the CASI Level 2 certification, as well as the Park Instructor course.
